I think it would be valuable if all relevant employees are given a range of options and are asked to rank them by preference, e.g. the company's financials are not good the employees can rank by their preferred options:

1. redundancies of non-key workers but key worker salaries and hours remain the same
2. salary cut and stock options for staff
3. reduced hours for workers

and so on.
